Song

While going through some folders on my computer, I came across a song from a while ago that I recorded with my friend Jamie on drums. I thought it was decent enough to put up on DeuceNet. So here it is:

Blah

Wow, busyness as of late has kept me from deucenet! Upsetting, I know. Anyways, here’s something to keep you thinking: If you were on a deserted island with no supplies but you were made of cheese…. would you eat yourself? And if so, what kind of cheese would you prefer to be made of?

Another thing: The past few times I’ve been to Walmart I’ve noticed a strange thing: Everytime I see an employee in the store, there is a second employee right by them. They travel in twos. Not only this, but these groups of two have a very specific make up. The person who is the obvious leader of the group is always an older woman who is wearing far too much makeup. The subordinate to this almost clown-looking person is always a younger woman who is severly overweight. Has Walmart found that this combination is superior for inducing the customers to purchase more merchandise? Have they found that it keeps customers coming back for more? Is it some strange part of a very bizarre CRM system that Walmart has implemented? Only time will tell.

Praying Mantis

Yesterday right outside the door to my townhouse, there was a praying mantis on the wall. Since these creatures are endangered, I figured it was a good photo opportunity! Here’s one of the pictures I took:

Webmaster

Well, I finally got around to setting up a webmaster email account for DeuceNet. webmaster@deucenet.com is now active, so feel free to send any questions or comments about this website to it.

On a completely different subject, happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day. Yarr.

AIM Viruses

Edit: 1/3/06
I have now updated the aimfix.exe file. It is now the version created by www.jayloden.com on 12/27/05.

It has come to my attention that there are a lot of AIM viruses going around. Someone from your buddy list sends you a link, you click on the link, and bam, you have a virus. Since I’m sick of getting all of these virus links sent to me, here’s a way you can get the virus off of your computer:

1. Download this program.
2. Double click on the program.
3. That’s it

I originally got this AIM fixer from http://www.jayloden.com/, so props go out to that website.

Argh

So the CD that came with my astronomy text book is missing a small piece. It is no longer a complete circle. To remedy this situation I went back to the bookstore today and showed them the problem. Now I have to wait for the bookstore to call the book’s publisher and get an answer from them about what to do. I am frustrated by this situation.

Song: ?

Sorry for the lack of updates lately. I’m in the process of working on a song and figured I’d let you all in on the goods. So here it is, the as yet untitled work in progress:

Samsung Part II

My replacement monitor finally arrived today, and it’s only about 2 or 3 weeks later than Samsung initially told me! I’m just glad to finally have it though. And as an added bonus, this one has no dead pixels, while the other one that died had one in the top left of the screen.

W00t.

I also went out today and bought a better surge protector, in case that was what killed my monitor.

Debacle at Work

Today at work I was dismantaling a computer lab and moving its computers into various rooms around the Middle School. (The computer lab is being turned into a regular classroom) I was given a spreadsheet telling me which computers went to which rooms. After about five hours of work, I had one of the classrooms set up how it was supposed to be. First I removed the four old computers and monitors and put them under a stairwell in the complete opposite corner of the school. After this I moved in four of the computers and monitors from the computer lab, hooked them up, organized all of the wires, installed the necessary printers and software, and then finished up with some more tidying of the wires and whatnot. I stepped back to admire my work and was very pleased with how it was looking. I was also feeling rather tired and run down since this was all done in above 90 degree and humid indoor weather.

Then it took a turn for the worse.

My supervisor happened to be walking by the room I was in at this point. She saw me and came in looking rather confused. “What are you doing in here?” she asked. “I set up the computers like you asked me to.” I replied. At this point I received a confused look from her.

“This is room 314, I told you to move the computers into room 415″ was what she said after a few moments of staring at me with incredulity. “No it’s not” I replied. “Look at the sheet you gave me.”

I then showed her the sheet that clearly said room 314 was to receive the new computers. “Oh, that was a typo” responded my supervisor.

Now tomorrow I must undo my 5 hours of work and move them all into room 415….
