Praying Mantis

Yesterday right outside the door to my townhouse, there was a praying mantis on the wall. Since these creatures are endangered, I figured it was a good photo opportunity! Here’s one of the pictures I took:

it may possibly be mantids as well, or manti. anyway to add a bit of story to this latest t-zone development this cannibalistic female also managed to say some eggs for us so hopefully we’ll be around when 100s of little ones are scurrying about the t-zone

We have some sacs in our bushes … egg sacs that is, and the plant type of bush (may or may not be a bush really). I think it is praying mantis eggs … but I don’t think I have any basis for reasoning they are praying mantis eggs, much less eggs.

I just noticed… aren’t preying mantices supposed to be green?

this picture clearly shows that your mantice is actually one of the uber rare elbino versions…. nice job saving the Earth Todd master flex!!!

Nice picture, however, they are not a protected or endangered species… http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/2154.html. I would probably consider them the ninjas of the insect world though… they are pretty sweet.

http://www.snopes.com/critters/wild/mantis2.htm Snopes says so too, for those who would trust it more than having an actual scientist say so.
